Terms of use
Last updated 29 September 2026
These terms have not yet had a legal review, and anything marked [to confirm] is still open.
In short: Snugdays helps you see and control your Cosy heat pump through Octopus. You stay in charge of your heating. Suggestions are estimates, not professional advice. Nothing here affects your legal rights as a consumer.
1. The agreement
These terms are between you and Rob Hutchin, trading as Snugdays ("we"), at [business address to confirm]. By creating an account you agree to them. You must be 18 or over, live in the UK, and either hold the Octopus account or have the holder's permission.
2. What Snugdays is
Independent app. Not affiliated with or endorsed by Octopus Energy. Octopus Energy and Cosy are trademarks of their respective owners. Snugdays talks to Octopus Energy's publicly available API using the key you supply, and nothing here is an Octopus Energy service.
It relies on Octopus's API, which Octopus can change or limit at any time. If that stops the app working, we will tell you and refund any unused time on a paid plan.
3. Controlling your heat pump
Changes you make are sent to your heat pump through Octopus, and we read them back to check they were taken. You're responsible for the settings you choose. How that works is worth stating rather than assuming:
- Every value is clamped to the range your pump reports. If Snugdays cannot read that range, it refuses the change rather than guessing.
- A command reaching Octopus is not a command reaching your pump. Snugdays reports what it sent and what came back, and says "sent, not yet confirmed" when that is the honest answer.
- Controls pause during an outage. When Octopus is unreachable Snugdays stops sending rather than firing into the void.
Keep the home warm enough for everyone in it, and don't rely on Snugdays for safety: keep your heat pump's own frost protection and controls working, and use your installer or Octopus for faults and servicing.
4. Suggestions and written checks
Suggestions, verdicts and savings are estimates from your own figures and the weather. They may be wrong, and they're not engineering or financial advice, nor a billing statement — your bill comes from Octopus Energy. Written checks are produced by a language model from your figures and are labelled as such. Nothing is changed on your heat pump until you start it.
5. Plans and paying
Free costs nothing. Snugdays+ is paid monthly or yearly at the price shown when you buy. There is no checkout yet: until it opens, we set up Snugdays+ by hand, with an end date. When a paid plan ends, the account moves to Free, and nothing is deleted.
Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations you can cancel within 14 days of buying for a refund, less a fair amount for any days you've used. After that you can cancel any time, and the plan runs to the end of the period you've paid for. We will give you at least 30 days' notice of a price change, and you can cancel before it applies.
6. Linked people
You can link people in your home. You're responsible for who you invite and what access you give them, and can remove them at any time.
7. Fair use
Only connect heat pumps you're allowed to control. Don't try to break, overload, copy or resell the service, or get at other people's data. We may suspend an account that does, and will tell you why.
8. Availability
We work to keep Snugdays running but can't promise it will always be available, especially when Octopus's service is down. Background collection can fall behind, and the app shows you when its data is stale rather than drawing a confident chart over a gap. We may change features. If a change takes away something you've paid for, we will tell you and you can cancel with a refund of unused time.
9. Our responsibility to you
We provide the service with reasonable care and skill, as the Consumer Rights Act 2015 requires. We're not responsible for losses we couldn't reasonably foresee, for the heat pump or Octopus's systems, or for energy costs from settings you chose. Where the law allows us to limit our responsibility, it's limited to what you paid us in the last 12 months. We don't limit responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit.
10. Ending
You can delete your account at any time. We may close it with 30 days' notice, or straight away if these terms are seriously broken. Your data is then handled as set out in the privacy notice.
11. Changes to these terms
If Snugdays becomes a limited company, these terms and your data move to it. We will tell you before that happens, and you can close your account if you'd rather not carry on.
We will email you at least 30 days before any change that matters. If you don't agree, you can close your account before it applies.
12. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your local courts. Please contact us first at info@cosydays.co.uk and we'll try to put things right.
